Canada's Senate voted to pass a bill that will allow the country's licensed sportsbook operators to offer single-event sports betting. The legislation was previously passed by the House of Commons on April 22nd and has now sailed through the Senate with no new amendments required.

Bill A4909 that legalizes fixed-odds wagering on horse racing in New Jersey has been approved by both houses and will now go to the desk of Governor Phil Murphy. Once the legislation is signed by the governor, Australian firm BetMakers could begin offering fixed odds betting on July 17th, the day that the $1,000,000 TVG.com Haskell Stakes takes place.

The Mississippi Gaming Commission's latest monthly revenue report shows that the state's licensed sportsbooks posted a sports betting handle of $36,125,895.57 for the month of May. This represents an 8.9% % increase from April's handle of $32,917,836.38 but is still well short of January’s record-breaking handle of $67,707,627.70.

This marks a 6.67% drop on April's handle of $479,411,021 while January's handle of $615,294,827 remains the highest handle of 2021.

Following a last-minute overhaul of the legislation, Senators have voted by 30-2 to pass Senate Bill 176 that will see legal sports betting coming to Ohio in 2022. Once signed into law, the legislation will allow Ohio gamblers to place wagers on all sporting events both professional and collegiate.
