Georgia Sports Betting – Best Legal GA Sportsbooks 2025
Sports betting has yet to be legalized in Georgia despite the best efforts of lawmakers to pass legislation.
Early 2021 saw the sports betting bills HB 86 and SB 142 introduced. If enacted, these bills would have allowed the state’s professional sports franchises to partner with sports betting operators. The bills would have seen a minimum of six sportsbooks launch within the state.
While SB 142 was passed by the Senate, it failed to gain the required support in the House chamber.
Although these bills ultimately failed, another similar bill HB 93 looked promising but was voted down by house representatives.
More efforts were made during 2023 with sports betting added to several non-gaming bills. However, these all failed to garner enough support and for the moment, legal sports wagering in the state is a non-runner.
Then in early 2024, the Georgia Senate passed Senate Bill 386 that would legalize sports betting in the state. However, passages of this bill will require a constitutional amendment which needs a majority of 38 senators to vote in favor.

Who regulates the Georgia sports betting industry?
Although Georgia currently has no sports betting industry or commercial casinos, it does have a state lottery. The Georgia Lottery Corporation would be a prime candidate to regulate the sports betting industry as proposed in the two bills introduced in early 2021.
Which sportsbooks will be available in Georgia
With no commercial casinos in the state, there are no major gambling operators that currently have a presence in the Georgia market making it difficult to predict who will be Georgia’s major sports betting providers.
If SB 142 were to pass, the state’s professional sports teams would Georgia’s sports betting license holders, but we have yet to hear any news of partnerships with betting operators.
Four of the state’s professional sports franchises have formed the Georgia Professional Sports Integrity Alliance (GPSIA)
in an attempt to promote the benefits of sports wagering in the state.
These teams are:
- Atlanta Braves
- Atlanta Falcons
- Atlanta Hawks
- Atlanta United
Sports betting apps in Georgia
The proposed legislation allows for mobile sports betting skins for each of the professional franchises awarded a sports betting license. These franchises will then be allowed to partner with sports betting operators or technology providers to launch mobile betting apps.
We will update this section when legislation is passed and news of any operator partnerships are announced.
Daily Fantasy Sports in Georgia
Playing Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) contests in Georgia are a grey area as they are considered a game of skill. However, gambling is illegal in Georgia. The state’s lawmakers have made several attempts to pass DFS legislation in the past, but all efforts have failed.
With no clear legislative opinion on the actual legality of DFS contests, the industry’s major operators all currently accept players from Georgia. In fact, the Atlanta Falcons have even signed a major deal with DFS operator PrizePicks despite the industry being unregulated in the state.
What about online poker in Georgia?
With no commercial casinos or live poker rooms in the state, it’s highly unlikely that we’ll see any moves to regulate online poker in Georgia any time in the near future. For that to happen we would need to see a change in the state constitution that would legalize gambling.
