On June 22nd, 2023 in-person sports betting finally got underway at WarHorse Casino.

The Nebraska Racing & Gaming Commission regulates the sports betting industry and is responsible for the drafting and implementation of rules and regulations for the state’s licensed operators.

There has been no move to pass legislation for Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) in Nebraska. However, there is nothing in the state’s legal code that explicitly prohibits DFS contests within Nebraska.

While the industry is not regulated, the country’s major DFS operators still allow Nebraskans to register and play on their platforms.

What About Online Poker in Nebraska?

The introduction of the casino gaming bill will see casino games launch at the state’s racetracks but the state’s lawmakers specified that the bill only allows for retail gaming. This means that mobile casino games of any kind, including poker, are prohibited by law.

Poker has never been a popular game in Nebraska and it would seem unlikely that any specific poker bill would gain the required support to pass into law. However, should the racetracks push for online sports betting options, poker and other casino games may be included.
