On the same day that 888’s William Hill was hit by a record Gambling Commission penalty, narrowly avoiding losing its gambling licence, the 888 brand announced to UK affiliate partners that the brand will “pause” affiliate partnerships for casino and sports-betting products.

The email sent to affiliate partners read as follows:

Dear Affiliate,

As we continue the integration between 888 and William Hill, the group is looking to optimize the UK activity. While we do this, we will be pausing your Sport and Casino UK campaigns from April 3rd (only 888Poker remains untouched).

All of the Sport and Casino UK traffic will be managed by the UK team based in London which you probably already know. In the meantime for international, we will still continue without any changes.

Your UK deals from 888Sport and 888Casino will be set to 0, the UK team will reach out to you to discuss deals going forward for Q3.

*Updated 29th March: One of 888´s reputation management partners has contacted GamblingIndustryNews.com, stating that “what the team agreed was to pause new activity and continue revenue share with existing players”.

Gambling Affiliates should be wary of The 888 affiliate program – which has a number of predatory, one-sided terms:

8.2 At any time, either party may immediately terminate this Agreement, with or without cause, by giving the other party written notice of termination (via fax or e-mail).

8.3 In the event that you do not log into your account for 90 consecutive days, we may terminate this Agreement without notice to you. [source]
