betsson affiliates predatory affiliate program

The latest gambling industry affiliate program to make a mockery of partners who drive value to their brand is Betsson affiliates – by adding what can only be described as predatory terms to their affiliate agreement.

Betsson Group Affiliate Program – Predatory Terms

Ironically dubbing itself “the perfect business partner” in creatives for the program, The rather one sided Term 8.0 has been updated in the affiliate agreement making it clear that this is not a conventional partnership or contract (with no moving goalposts) as most humans would expect:

8. Modification of terms and conditions:
We may modify any of the terms and conditions contained in the Affiliate Agreement or replace it at any time and in our sole discretion by posting a change notice or a new agreement on our site and notifying Affiliates in an email of the implemented changes. Modifications may include, for example, changes in the scope of available Commissions and Affiliate Program rules. If any modification is unacceptable to you, your only recourse is to terminate the Affiliate Agreement. Your continued participation in our Affiliate Program following our posting of a change notice or new agreement on our site will constitute binding acceptance of the modification or of the new agreement.

Affiliates React

Affiliates are a key force in driving revenues to operators such as Betsson. Many reactions on gambling affiliate forums expressed shock, disbelief and disgust.

Reactions from affiliates on gambling affiliate forums online included:

  • “Crazy shit! – They just don’t care at all about their affiliates. We build their brands and now they piss on us!”
  • “We can screw you over in any way we please, and there’s nothing you can do about it buster!”
  • “How did this industry become so a shite 1 sided thing?”

We requested comment from Betsson affiliates’ head of affiliates Sebastian Jarosch – receiving no response.
