Following the recent calls for a complete ban on gambling content from the platform’s top streamers, Twitch has announced that it will ban certain forms of gambling-related streams.
In an announcement made via Twitter, the company stated that it will ban “streaming of gambling sites that include slots, roulette, or dice games.” This policy update will take effect from October 18th.

The move follows the revelations that popular streamer ‘Sliker’ had scammed his followers and fellow content creators out of $200,000 in order to fund his gambling addiction.
It’s important to note though that Twitch has not placed an outright ban on gambling content. Content that features sports betting, poker, and fantasy sports will still be allowed. Meanwhile the streaming of slots, roulette, and dice is only banned if the websites in question are not licensed in a country or state that provides ‘sufficient consumer protection’.
One of the gambling companies that will be severely impacted by the ban is Stake.com. The company is one of the most popular streamed slots sites on Twitch with top streamers regularly featuring slots from the website on their streams. Others mentioned by Twitch include Duelbits.com, Rollbit.com, and Roobit.com
Twitch stated that more details about its gambling policies will be released ahead of the implementation of the new ban on October 18th.
