Alan Keating won a record-setting $1,412,500 pot during Episode 10 of the 14th season of High Stakes Poker on Monday night. The surprising moment occurred inside the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.
Keating’s competition included Rick Salomon, who semi-bluffed off a $567,000 pot last week, and had the biggest chip stack on the table with $1.3 million in front of him. Peter Wang, Nikhil “Nik Airball” Arcot, Vinny Lingham, and Justin Gavri rounded out the table.
On the final hand, Keating and Wang had built a pot of $145,500 ahead of a king-high flop that contained two spades. Keating held pocket kings and flopped top set, and Wang had the nut flush draw with the ace-three of spades.
Wang check-raised Keating’s $70,000 bet to $200,000, and Keating called. An ace hit the turn, giving Wang top pair to go along with his flush draw, and he moved all in for $433,500.
Keating snap-called. The players decided to run it twice, and Keating held up on both rivers to secure the entire $1,412,500 pot and make High Stakes Poker history.
Keating And Peter Fought For A $911,000 Pot In Episode 6
Of course, Keating and Peter have now played the two largest pots during Season 14. The pair fought for a $911,000 pot in Episode 6, a hand also won by Keating.
The previous largest pot in High Stakes Poker history was $992,000, which went to Santhosh Suvarna during Season 12. Suvarna’s record was nearly beaten in Season 13 when Sameh Elamawy cracked Andrew Robl’s pocket kings with ace-king for a $981,300 pot.
