The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has announced that it has instructed local internet service providers (ISPs) to block ten unlicensed iGaming and gambling affiliate websites.
According to the ACMA release, the websites that have been added to its block list are:
- Stay Casino
- Bambet
- Dazard Casino
- Level Up Casino
- Rocketplay Casino
- Wild Tornado Casino
- Cobra Casino
- Cobra Bet
- Casinority
- Pokies Lab
Following an ACMA investigation, it was discovered that all ten websites had breached the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
The release notes that:
The ACMA is reminding consumers that even if a service looks legitimate, its unlikely to have important customer protections. This means Australians who use illegal gambling services risk losing their money.
Since the ACMA first started taking action against websites that breach the Gambling Act in 2019, it has blocked 481 websites. As a result of this action, over 160 unlicensed gambling services have withdrawn from the Australian market.
In 2021, the ACMA announced that it was going to start blocking local access to affiliate gambling websites that promote casino and sports betting products. Prior to this the authority had only requested that ISPs block online casinos and betting sites.
