Betway has announced a four-year sponsorship extension with South Africa rugby to broaden its coverage across the country’s program.
Betway, widely regarded as one of the best betting sites in the UK, renewed its partnership with the national team which will now stretch further.
The sponsorship had previously only applied to the Springbok men and women’s sides only, but now the Betway logo will be worn by the Blitzboks and Springbok Women’s Sevens teams too.
The firm, who has operated in South Africa since 2017, will see its name feature on the back of the shorts of the four teams.
The renewed deal will begin on June 28 when the men’s team takes on the Barbarians in Cape Town. According to online casinos, the reigning world champions are 11/4 to repeat that feat in 2027.
‘Delighted’ Betway Announce Launch Of Billboards Across South Africa
Betway Africa’s Head of Marketing, Mark Rowles, said: “The Springboks are a team that have brought so much joy to South Africa and we as Betway are delighted to be behind the Boks for another four years, our journey has seen so much success for the team and that feel good feeling has certainly rubbed off on the Rainbow Nation.
“We are looking forward to playing a role in the success of both the women’s and sevens teams over the next four-year period and will be investing in the growth and accessibility of the women’s game.
“We will be launching our official Springbok campaign in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for our billboards across South Africa, where Springbok fans have continuously shown their support by being fully behind the Boks.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to wish the Springbok Women’s squad all the best for the upcoming World Cup in England that kicks off in August.”
Betway Responsible For Biggest Investment In South African Sport
Betway is without doubt one of the biggest sports betting apps in South Africa, covering 27 different sports in the country and internationally.
Not only does the company sponsor the SA Rugby program, it also partners with the SA20 T20 cricket league and horse racing’s Betway Summer Cup.
In 2024, Betway bought the naming rights to South Africa’s top football division – now called the Betway Premiership. It was hailed as the biggest investment in South African sport with a valuation of around £38 million for three years.
African Gambling Market Continues To Grow Exponentially
Experts have predicted online gambling will enjoy a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.6% between 2025 and 2032, so it’s no surprise to see a household operator like Betway is keen to get involved.
South Africa is the most lucrative region on the continent in that regard with an online gambling revenue tallying over $800 million annually.
