Boyd Gaming Breaks Ground on Cadence Crossing Casino in Nevada

Boyd Gaming broke ground on Cadence Crossing Casino, the gaming company’s newest property in southern Nevada. The facility is expected to be a 10,000-square-foot casino with multiple restaurants.

Located on Boulder Highway adjacent to the master-planned community of Cadence, Cadence Crossing will feature a modern casino entertainment experience with 450 slot machines and several food and beverage offerings.

The property is scheduled to open in mid-2026, replacing the 33-year-old Jokers Wild Casino in Henderson. Jokers Wild would continue to operate until the new casino is ready to open. It then will be demolished to make room for parking for the new facility.

Boyd Gaming senior executives and elected officials from the City of Henderson participated in a formal groundbreaking ceremony at the development site Thursday morning to celebrate the start of the project.

Participants included Marianne Johnson, Executive Chairman of Boyd Gaming; Keith Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boyd; Ted Bogich, Boyd’s Chief Operating Officer; Steve Schutte, Boyd’s Executive Vice President of Operations; and Mayor Michelle Romero of the City of Henderson.

“As we celebrate Boyd’s 50th year in business, we are excited to begin development of our newest entertainment destination in the Las Vegas Valley,” Schutte said.

“Cadence Crossing will allow us to better serve the rapidly-growing master-planned community of Cadence – and to further expand our presence in Henderson as the Cadence community continues to grow in the years ahead.”

Of course, Boyd Gaming unveiled plans for the project in its second-quarter earnings call in July. Renovations at an out-of-state property are expected to be covered in a $100 million capital expenditure allocation on the company’s balance sheet.

Mayor Michelle Romero added:

“I’m so pleased to be here today in such good company to join you on the groundbreaking for this amazing project, and to give you an idea of how long I’ve been here, I remember when that [Jokers Wild] was built. Last fall, we began work on the reimagined Boulder Highway project, and the $170 million investment on these 7½ miles will have a positive impact across many facets of our community.”

Boyd Gaming is also a strategic partner and 5% equity owner of FanDuel Group, the nation’s leading sports-betting operator, and the official and exclusive local casino partner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
