Online gambling operator Betsson has announced that it has agreed a deal to acquire Holland Gaming Technology Ltd and Holland Power Gaming B.V. for a combined cost of €27.5 million.

The deal will see Betsson take over gaming operator Holland Gaming’s online casino gaming license subject to approval by the Netherlands gambling authority, de Kanspelautoriteit (KSA). The license currently allows the company to run www.goldruncasino.nl and www.goldruncasino.com in the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Holland Power Gaming B.V. is a Dutch game development company exclusively supplying casino games for Holland Gaming Technology Ltd. As part of the deal, the studio will continues to provide games for both websites currently in operation.

The transaction agreement was finalized on February 19th, 2024, with a total consideration of €27.5 million. At closing, €16 million will be paid upfront with deferred payments of €9 million and €2.5 million scheduled for six and twelve months respectively.

In July of last year, Betsson announced that it had withdrawn its application for a remote gaming license in the Netherlands. At the time, the company stated that it was taking too long to secure the license and that it would look to alternatives to entering the market.

Belgian Online Casino Launch

Earlier this month, Betsson announced the launch of its online casino in Belgium under the brand betFIRST, which it acquired last year.

The venture is in collaboration with the Middelkerke Casino, owned by Groupe Partouche. Betsson’s acquisition of Betfirst Group, valued at €120 million, was finalized in June last year, coinciding with the announcement of the partnership with Groupe Partouche’s Middelkerke Casino.

Groupe Partouche recently disclosed in its financial report that its land-based venue, Casino Middelkerke, obtained a license to offer online casino games in Belgium starting from January.
