iGaming Ontario has released its latest quarterly revenue report revealing that the for the period July 1st through September 30th, local gamblers wagered CA$6.04 billion (€4.5 billion) through licensed online iGaming platforms.
Ontarians wagered almost CA$2 billion more in latest quarter
This marks a 48% increase of almost CA$2 billion (€1.49 billion) over the previous period when legal iGaming officially launched in the Canadian province.
The report also revealed that gaming revenue for the latest reporting period amounted to CA$267 million (€198.9 million). This is an increase of 64.8% compared to the previous quarter when operators reported combined revenues of CA$162 million (€120.7 million).
The jump in betting activity and revenue is likely due to an increase in the number of licensed operators. There were 24 licensed iGaming operators in the province during the quarter, up from 18. As a result, betting websites increased from a total of 31 in the first reporting period to 42 in the latest.
Active players has also increased during the period from 492,000 to 620,000. Player spend during the period also grew from CA$113 to CA$142.
Ontario’s regulated iGaming market launched earlier this year on April 4th.
