According to a statement from the Las vegas Sands (his casino & resort company), Casino mogul Sheldon Adelson’s Casino & resort company – Sheldon Adelson dies aged 87. Adelson was a multi-billionaire casino mogul and GOP supporter, and also a staunch opponent of online-gambling.

The Republican Party mega-donor, died from complications related to cancer treatment. With a net worth estimated to be 33.8 billion dollars, Adelson was one of the key donors supporting Donald Trump’s 2020 election campaign.

Former President George W. Bush who was also a recipient of Adelson campaign donations, described Adelson as “an American patriot”.

Adelson moved into the casino business in the 80’s – buying the Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for a reported $128 million. Subsequently after building a resort brand, the company expanded – opening more properties in the U.S. & Asia.
In 1996 Adelson leveled the Sands building in 1996, and in its place spent 3 years and $1.5 billion to build the Venetian.

Adelson’s funeral will take place in Israel, and a memorial service will follow in Las Vegas.
