Las Vegas Casinos could be allowed to open at 100% capacity by June 1st according to an announcement by Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak.

Speaking at a press conference discussing the proposed lifting of social distancing restrictions on May 1st, Sisolak said:

“Based on consultation with our state health officials, I am pleased to announce that I’m very confident every county in the state of Nevada will be able to fully reopen at 100 percent capacity by June 1.”

The governor noted that although businesses would be free to implement their own social distancing measures, a statewide mask mandate will remain in place.

However, despite Gov. Sisolak’s confidence in the full reopening of casinos across the state, the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) have yet to decide on a date for a full return to gaming. Nevada operates legal land-based sportsbetting and casinos –  but online betting is not legal in the state.

In April, the NGCB stated that casino owners were required to ensure that the majority of staff were vaccinated by May. The board has since intimated that any increase in capacity will be tied into the implementation of casino’s vaccine programs.
