Michigan Gaming Control Board Issues C&D Orders to SportsBetting.ag and BetOnline.ag

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has issued cease-and-desist orders to the Panama-based operators of SportsBetting.ag and BetOnline.ag for conducting illegal gambling activities in Michigan. Both operators are in violation of Michigan’s Lawful Internet Gaming Act, Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and Michigan Penal Code.

According to the MGCB’s news release, the Board’s actions follow investigations prompted by an anonymous tip. SportsBetting.ag has been illegally accepting wagers on sports, horse races, politics, table games, card games, and virtual casino games. The platform has been offering cash-back incentives for casino losses as well.

Meanwhile, BetOnline.ag has also been offering illegal betting options, including contest tournaments, sports betting, live events, casino-style games (slots, table games, blackjack, poker), horse racing, and esports. All of these activities involve real-money wagers and can be funded via credit card, wire transfer, or cryptocurrency.

“The Michigan Gaming Control Board is committed to enforcing Michigan’s gaming laws and protecting consumers from illegal gambling,” MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams said. “We encourage residents to only engage with licensed and regulated online platforms for a safe and fair gaming experience.”

SportsBetting.ag and BetOnline.ag have 14 days to cease all operations in Michigan. If the offshore operators fail to comply, the MGCB will take legal action in collaboration with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.
