Michigan Takes Action Against 13 More Offshore Gambling Sites

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has once again taken decisive action against 13 illegal offshore gambling websites. These gaming sites include — Captain Jack Casino, Casino Brango, Ducky Luck Casino, El Royale Casino, Jazz Casino, Jazz Sports Casino Racebook, Looselines, Planet 7 Casino, Red Dog Casino, Royal Oak Casino, Silver Oak Casino, Skybook, and Slots of Vegas.

All 13 Offshore Gambling Sites Violated Michigan Law

All 13 offshore sites have been operating in Michigan without proper state licenses, violating state law. The operators of these sites, based in jurisdictions including Curaçao, Costa Rica, and the Autonomous Island of Anjouan, have been issued cease-and-desist orders by the MGCB.

“These illegal gambling websites put Michigan residents at significant personal and financial risk,” said Henry Williams, Executive Director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

“Our priority is to maintain a secure and regulated gaming environment. These websites not only violate Michigan’s laws but also engage in deceptive practices that endanger consumers, including withholding winnings and imposing unfair wagering requirements.”

The cease-and-desist letters instruct the operators to cease all unlawful activities within 14 days of receipt. If the operators fail to comply, the MGCB will work with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office to pursue legal action.

Offshore Sites Engaged In Dishonest Practices

An investigation by the MGCB revealed that all 13 websites allowed Michigan players to gamble using several payment methods — such as credit cards, PayPal, and cryptocurrencies.

The gaming sites were also found to have “engaged in dishonest practices, such as restricting withdrawals and demanding players meet high, often unreasonable, wagering thresholds before accessing their funds.”

Along with exposing gamblers to financial risks, these offshore operators do not meet Michigan’s standards for “responsible gaming, consumer protection, or data security.”

MGCB Has Banned Dozens Of Unregulated Gaming Sites

Last week, the MGCB also took decisive action against 11 other offshore gambling websites: Bet Big Dollar Casino, Blood Moon Casino, DogsFortune, Grand Eagle Online Casino, Highway Casino, Jumba Bet Casino, Las Atlantis Casino, Ruby Slots Casino, Shazam Casino, SlotsRoom, and Spinfinity.

In February, the MGCB sent cease-and-desist letters to the following operators:

  • BetAnySports (BAS)
  • CoolCat Casino
  • Diamond Sportsbook International, d/b/a BetDSI.eu (BetDSI)
  • My Dreams Casino
  • NonStop Casino
  • Palace of Chance
  • Solar Game LTD and Busan Trade Office (Go Go Gold)
  • WagerWeb
  • Xbet Casino

Then earlier last week, the MGCB sent cease-and-desist letters to offshore operators Lucky Tiger Casino and Rich Palms Casino for conducting illegal gambling activities in the Wolverine State.

Licensed online gambling operators can legally offer online casinos and sports betting in Michigan. The first regulated casino sites were launched in January 2021.
