Online sports betting revenue in New York enjoyed a $28.5 million increase last week.

The New York State Gaming Commission reported a massive $56.8 million in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the week ending September 14, the second week of the new NFL season.

It marked a nearly $30 million rise from revenue the week prior and the state raked in more than $29 million in tax revenues, making it the most profitable week of sports betting since the first week of June.

New York sports betting is back on the forefront of residents’ minds following the return of the beloved Jets and Giants – both of which have started the season on the back foot with consecutive defeats.

This time of year is always the most lucrative for sports betting apps as both the NFL and NCAA college football seasons are well underway.

The New York State Gaming Commission revealed $533,786,360 was wagered with online casinos throughout the week, a small increase of around $6 million from the prior week.

The GGR of $56,862,762 was up from $28,330,276 the prior week and in line with New York’s 51% tax rate, the state earned $29,000,008 in revenues over the course of the seven days.

There are nine regulated sports betting apps whose data is compiled among the results: Caesars, DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Fanatics, Bally Bet, Resorts World Bet, ESPN Bet and BetRivers.

It doesn’t include numbers from offshore sportsbooks which are extremely popular in the state.

Fanatics is continuing its impressive run and showing no signs of slowing downs following a shock August where it reported $565,830,550 in total handle – 27.7% of the market share.

It still has a way to go to rival top dogs DraftKings and FanDuel, but Fanatics has established itself as New York’s third biggest sports betting platform with $65,955,965 in total handle for the week.
