Sportsbooks in New York State generated $155.9 million In gross gaming revenue (GGR) for July, signifying a year-over-year increase of 10.7%.
The figures released by the New York State Gaming Commission show that sports betting app and retail operators had recorded a three-month streak of double-digit win rates for the first time since mobile betting was launched in the state in January 2022.
The total sports handle rose from July 2024’s return of $1.26 billion to $1.4 billion, an 11.1% increase, with an average hold rate of 11.08%.
Revenues Up But Handle Fluctuates
New York Sports betting revenue reached a record $249 million in May, surpassing the previous record of $248 million that had been achieved in January 2025.
June also recorded a robust revenue figure, with GGR of $206.5 million showing an increase of 54.2% year-on-year, but New York mobile sports betting handle recorded the lowest total in almost a year, falling to $1.6 billion.
One reason put forward for the decline in turnover was the New York Knicks’ early exit from the NBA playoffs at the hands of Indiana Pacers before June got underway.
The summer is also a traditionally quieter time as bettors prepare for the new NFL season.
FanDuel The Revenue Leader
The leading sportsbooks recorded encouraging figures for the month, with FanDuel leading the way in terms of revenue.
The online sports betting site posted $61.4 million GGR generated from a handle of $476.9 million.
Despite it’s 3.5% year-on-year rise in GGR, handle showed a small 1.2% drop.
Main rivals DraftKings topped the rankings in terms of sports handle, processing $509.4 million in wagers, a year-on-year increase of 11.5%.
That produced GGR of 52.5 million, another increase of 9.5%.
There was also good news for Fanatics.
The global digital sports platform recorded a GGR of $13.9 million, a 55.5% increase, while sports handle showed an even bigger hike of 80.9%, reaching $137.7 million.
The firm’s market share of 9.8% was its largest since a relaunch in November 2023.
Slots Leading Land-Based Games
While online casinos are not yet allowed in New York State, land-based gaming revenue is driven by slots.
Commercial gaming GGR reached $60.6 million with slots generating $45.1 million from $555.6 million in handle.
Table games accounted for $14.3 million revenue and poker $900,000.
Land-based sports betting achieved $300,000 in GGR.
