The latest monthly sports wagering revenue report from the Oregon Lottery reveals a sports betting handle of $27,780,213 for the month of May. This marks an 8.9% increase on April’s handle of $25,323,061 making May the biggest sports betting month since February and the third highest handle of 2021.
Basketball was once again the most popular sport with 16,543 Oregon gamblers placing 416,600 bets on the NBA for a total handle of $16,190,392 or a 58.3% share of the total handle. The average bet amount was $38.86 generating $1,498,679 in gross gaming revenue (GGR) and a margin of 9.26%.
Baseball was the next most popular sports attracting 136,629 bets from 6,567 unique players. The average bet was $33.83 with the sport generating just $214,694 GGR and a margin of 4.64%.
There were 19,806 unique players during the month who placed a total of 791,177 bets at an average of $35.11 per bet. This generated an overall GGR of $2,350,290 with a margin of 8.46%.
There were 510,989 PreMatch bets accounting for 64.5% of all bets made while there were 280,188 live bets during the month. PreMatch and Live bets generated GGR of $1,307,246 and $1,043,044 respectively.
