The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has arrested a man for creating fraudulent accounts on DraftKings.
The bureau began the investigation following reports that fake accounts had been set up on the DraftKings sports betting platform. The accounts had been traced to Bruce Orr residing in Nolensville, Tennessee.
Orr was indicted by Williamson County Grand Jury on March 13th. However, he was not arrested until Monday of this week. He was remanded in jail on a $35,000 bond and charged with eight counts of identity theft.
All charges of identity theft are classed as felony charges meaning that, if found guilty, Orr is likely to serve time in prison.
The bureau has confirmed that this was a joint investigation between it and the Tennessee Sports Wagering Advisory Council. However, no details were revealed relating to how the fraudulent accounts were reported and no blame has been attributed to DraftKings.
