The Danish Gambling Authority, Spillemyndigheden, has released its latest gambling data report showing that overall gross gaming revenue (GGR) for 2022 came to kr6.7 billion (€900.7 million).
The latest figures mark an increase of 8% on the kr6.2 billion (€833.5 million) reported in 2021.
According to the report, combined sports betting GGR for the month of December was kr136 million (€18.2 million) bringing the total for 2022 to kr2.3 billion (€309.2 million), a drop of 4.1% compared to the kr2.4 billion (€322.6 million) reported in the previous calendar year. December’s figure also marked a sharp drop of 47.5% from the kr259 million (€34.8 million) reported in November. December was also the lowest sports betting revenue figure for 2022.
Online casinos reported an increase of 2.4% in GGR from kr2.81 billion (€376.4 million) in 2021 to kr2.88 billion (€387.1 million) in 2022. This was driven by a record-setting month of December when online casinos reported all-time high combined revenues of kr272 million (€36.5 million) beating the previous record of kr261 million (€35 million) set in January of 2022.
Gaming machine operators reported a significant increase in yearly revenues with a total of kr1.1 billion (€147.8 million) for 2022. This was a 47.5% increase on the kr782 million (€105.1 million) reported in 2021. Land-based casinos also reported positive gains of 59.1% year-on-year following the full reopening of all gambling venues in 2022. GGR for the year totaled kr349 million (€46.9 million) compared to kr220 million (€29.5 million) in 2021.
