Dutch Regulator, De Kansspelautoriteit, has issued Gammix Limited with a cease and desist order after the authority discovered that the company was marketing unlicensed gambling products and services in the Netherlands.
Company could be fined €1.47 million per week
De Kansspelautoriteit’s order specified that websites in question are Nordslots.com and Rantcasino.com. Gammix Ltd also owns and operates several international online casino and gambling websites including Scatters Casino, BluVegas Casino, BetOriginal Casino, Craze Play, Sugar Casino, and DBosses Casino.
According to the order, if Gammix does not immediately stop its unlicensed activity through the specified websites, the company will be fined €1.47 million for each week that the websites remain live in the Netherlands. The fine can reach a maximum of €4.5 million.
As of October 1st 2021, all online gambling websites that operate in the Netherlands must be fully licensed by De Kansspelautoriteit. Any unlicensed websites that are found to be accepting Dutch customers are immediately issued with cease and desist orders and a threat of a potential fine based on the projected income from the illegal activity. Since the industry launched, several companies have been issued with orders as the regulator seeks to maintain what it describes as a ‘safe gambling environment’.
In related news, the Dutch government has moved to ban all forms of gambling advertising and sports sponsorships in an effort to limit the impact of intrusive ads on vulnerable people and minors.
