The Lithuanian Gambling Supervisory Service has issued a fine of €15,000 to Top Sport for allowing a user to make deposits to their account using another person’s debit card.

During an unscheduled inspection of Top Sport’s business practices, the regulator found that a user made deposits totaling €14,965 to their own account using a card in another person’s name. According to Article 205, paragraph 1, of Lithuania’s Gambling Act, this is strictly prohibited with the gambling operator tasked with taking measures to ensure it does not occur.

Following the investigation, the regulator decided to fine Top Sport €15,000. The fine must be paid in full immediately as there is no appeal process against any financial penalties issued.

Earlier this year Top Sport was fined €25,000 by the regulator for sending an email that included information that is prohibited under Lithuanian gambling laws. The company was also fined €15,000 for the installation of CCTV in breach gambling regulations at one of its retail venues.
