The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission has revealed who the first ten applicants are for mobile sports betting licenses ahead of the industry’s official launch expected later this year.

According to the MLGCC’s latest meeting agenda, the ten operators are:

  • Barstool (Penn Sports Interactive)
  • BetFred
  • BetMGM
  • BetRivers (RSI MD)
  • Caesars (American Wagering)
  • DraftKings (Crown MD Online Gaming)
  • FanDuel (Betfair)
  • Fanatics (FBG Enterprises Opco)
  • Parx Interactive Maryland
  • PointsBet

A qualification hearing will now take place on Thursday of this week with the MLGCC expected to push through the applications by introducing alternative licensing qualifications.

If approved by the MLGCC, the applications will go forward to The Sports Wagering Application Review Commission (SWARC). The SWARC is due to meet again on November 21st. In theory, this means that a late 2022 Maryland sports betting launch is a distinct possibility.

The SWARC previously announced that it the licensing process would be a rolling approval process. This will allow mobile sports betting operators to launch as soon as their license is approved rather than wait for an official launch date.
