The Massachusetts Gaming Commission‘s latest public meeting saw the MGC announce an official launch date of January 31st, 2023 for retail sports betting.

The official launch date for sports betting in Massachusetts falls within the MGC’s proposed schedule of a late January launch. This means that sportsbooks at Encore Boston Harbor, Plainridge Park Casino, and MGM Springfield will be open in time for the Super Bowl on February 12th.

Plainridge Park Casino has received temporary approval and must cooperate with a full inquiry into the business practices of Barstool Sports ahead of full approval.

During the meeting it was also revealed that MGC staff will begin on-site kiosk testing at each of the three casinos from January 16th.

However, a proposed launch date for mobile sports betting in the state is still up in the air with the MGC stating that early March is still possible. So far, three mobile sportsbook operators have been approved as suitable operators — WynnBet, BetMGM, and Caesars Sportsbook.
