The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has announced that it has approved the issuance of four fines totaling $73,075 to three gambling license holders.
According to a PGCB statement, four consent agreements which were presented by the Office of Enforcement Counsel (OEC) were approved during its public meeting. The consent agreements were a direct result of negotiations between the OEC and the license holders who were found to have breached licensing conditions.
In the first instance, Stadium Casino Westmoreland RE, LLC which operates Live! Casino Pittsburgh in Westmoreland County was issued with two fines:
- $20,000 for allowing two people who were on the Board’s Casino Self-Exclusion List gamble on the casino gaming floor.
- $10,000 for allowing a person under the legal gambling of age of 21 to play slot machines.
Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, Inc., operator of Parx Casino in Bucks County was fined:
- $18,075 for failure to submit two license renewal applications on time.
Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores, Inc., which operates video gaming terminals (VGTs) was fined:
- $25,000 fine for not providing the PGCB with ownership structure changes relating to its VGT locations.
This brings the total fines for 2023 to $407,649,084 (€388,245,716). Gambling industry fines in 2022 came to $269,532,490 (€251,712,034) – a significant increase of 443.9% compared to 2021’s total of $48,642,992 (€44,753,969).
According to the latest U.S. gambling industry stats, state gaming regulators issued $587,964 in fines across the first six months of 2023.
