The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (MLGCC) has announced that it has issued a sports wagering license to Bingo World in Brooklyn Park.
The property, located in Anne Arundel County, underwent two days of controlled demonstrations on July 21st and July 25th. These demonstrations were carried out under the guidance of MLGCC staff and satisfied the Commission that Bingo World had the correct technology and procedures in place to meet its licensing requirements.
According to Maryland legislation HB940, Bingo World is among 17 properties and business entities that are allowed to apply for a license to run sports wagering operations. However, it is only the sixth to launch.
The current list of sportsbooks in Maryland is:
- MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill
- Live! Casino in Hanover
- Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore
- Hollywood Casino in Perryville
- Ocean Downs Casino in Berlin
- Bingo World in Brooklyn Park
The MLGCC has also revealed that three off-track-betting venues — Long Shot’s in Frederick, Riverboat on the Potomac in Charles County, and Greenmount Station in Hampstead — are now approved for sports wagering in Maryland and are expected to launch in the near future.
