Following the news that New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will miss the entire NFL season due to injury, DraftKings has announced that it will offer refunds on wagers involving the player.

The announcement was made on X with the sports betting operator stating that any bets on the Jets’ Monday night game that include Rodgers will be refunded. In addition, all futures singles or any parlays where the player features as an open leg will also be refunded. All refunds will be issued as bonus credit that must be used to place wagers on the platform.

Rodgers, a four-time MVP and the 6th highest paid Quarterback in the NFL with guaranteed cash of $36,888,888  joined the Jets in the NFL offseason and in the immediate aftermath of the trade there was considerable betting activity as bettors backed Rodgers to succeed at the Jets.

The Jets had also been heavily backed to reach the postseason playoffs, but the team’s odds to win the Super Bowl have gone from +1400 to +6000 in the wake of Rodgers’ injury. However, DraftKings will not be refunding bets on the Jets as a result of the injury.

Following DraftKings swift decision regarding refunds, BetMGM, Bet365, & Caesars Sportsbook all followed suit with similar refund offers. However, its closest competitor FanDuel has made no such offer.

Speaking of DraftKings’ decision on X, pro sports bettor and founder of BetBash Spanky said:

DraftKings’ refund announcement comes just a day after the company drew criticism for its questionable choice of wording in a 9/11 themed parlay offer promoted on social media. Following the furor over the promotion, DraftKings made a public apology.

According to the latest USA gambling statistics, DraftKings is the leading sports betting operator by coverage with licenses to operate in 20 states.
