Fubo Gaming has announced a market access deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers allowing the company to launch its Fubo Sportsbook app in the state of Ohio. The deal will also see the company open a 3,000 sq. ft. sportsbook inside the Cavaliers’ home stadium, Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

Fubo Gaming is a subsidiary of TV streaming platform fuboTV Inc. and launched in the first quarter of 2021. The company has already launched its sports betting app in both Iowa and Arizona, and has signed market access deals for future launces in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Texas pending regulatory approval.

The announcement comes just a few months after Fubo signed a marketing partnership deal with the Cavaliers in October 2021.

Speaking of the deal, Len Komoroski, CEO, Cavaliers and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse said:

“This is an exciting evolution of our continued partnership with Fubo Gaming. The Fubo Sportsbook mobile wagering platform provides leading technology, connectivity and entertainment that aligns perfectly with our commitment to innovation and engagement across every aspect of the fan experience. We look forward to the continued collaboration with Fubo as we work to establish a best-in-class sports betting marketplace to offer our fans in Cleveland and throughout the state of Ohio.”

Scott Butera, President, Fubo Gaming added:

“The opportunity to enter the Ohio sports betting market with the Cavaliers as our partner is a major step forward for Fubo. Ohio has a passionate fan base who will enjoy Fubo’s uniquely integrated streaming and wagering sports betting experience. The Cavs are at the forefront of sports innovation and consistently create highly engaging fan experiences. This partnership provides Fubo instant access to a highly attractive customer base.”

Sports betting in Ohio became legal when Governor Mike DeWine signed House Bill 29 into law on December 22nd, 2021. Since then, the Ohio Casino Gaming Control Commission has started the process of drafting rules and regulations for sports betting in the Buckeye State.

The license application and approval process is not expected to take place until late summer or early fall of 2022 while sports betting will officially launch in the state no later than January 1st, 2023.
