Google has announced that it will now allow Connecticut-based gambling operators to use Google Ads to advertise sports betting, online casino, and daily fantasy sports (DFS) products and services.
To place ads, operators must first apply for certification through Google with applications open to any advertisers who are fully licensed by the state to offer gambling products and services.
Although Google initially set a launch date of October 7th for the placement of gambling ads within the state, the revised timeline for the launch of Connecticut sports betting means that this has been pushed back to today October 12th.
According to an announcement made yesterday by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, Connecticut sports betting will launch today under strict limitations. 750 customers from each of the state’s three licensed mobile sports betting operators will be allowed to place wagers on sports for a limited period of eight hours from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The announcement goes on to explain that the initial eight-hour betting period should be extended to a full 24-hour service by the end of the week.
