After a number of weeks of limited access in Florida, the Hard Rock Bet sports betting app is now live and taking wagers ahead of today’s retail sports betting launch.

The Seminole Tribe had previously announced that following a successful limited access period, the Hard Rock Bet app would fully launch on Thursday, December 7th, 2023. However, a tweet from Matt Primeaux, President of Hard Rock Bet revealed that the app launched early on Tuesday of this week.

The launch came just ahead of the planned opening of the Seminole’s first three retail sportsbooks at three casino properties in the state all of which will begin taking bets today. A further three properties will launch their retail sportsbooks on December 8th and 11th.

The tribe has also stated that in accordance with the Gaming Compact it signed with the State of Florida in 2021, it will launch craps and roulette at all six of its Florida-based gaming facilities.

U.S. Supreme Court Ruling Allows Sports Betting Launch

Earlier in October, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to block a federal appeals court ruling that allows the Seminole Tribe to provide online sports betting products and services in the state of Florida.

The court rejected a request by the legal team representing two casinos in Florida to put the appeal court’s decision on hold while they sought a Supreme Court review. The decision followed encouragement from the Biden administration to move the case forward.

As a result of the Supreme Court’s ruling, the Seminole Tribe was effectively given the green light to launch sports betting in Florida.
