The Indiana Gaming Commission has released its latest monthly revenue report revealing that the Hoosier State’s licensed sports betting operators accepted $461.1 million in wagers throughout the month of October.
The latest figures are a 29.7% increase on the previous month as sportsbooks set a new record with the highest sports betting handle in a single month since the industry launched in September 2019.
Ameristar Casino continues to dominate the Indiana sports betting market as its sportsbook accepted over $160.7 million in wagers throughout the month. This accounted for 34.85% of all sports betting activity in the state. $153.9 million of the casino’s wagers came through its two online sports betting apps, DraftKings and theScore, while retail bets amounted to just $6.8 million for the month.
Blue Chip Casino remains in second place with a total sports betting handle of $114.6 million. Of this total, $113.2 million came through the operator’s online sports betting app run by FanDuel and $1.39 million came in through its retail sportsbook.
Hollywood Lawrenceburg retains its place as the retail market leader with its sportsbook accepting $15.6 million in wagers during October.
Despite not being the market leader, Blue Chip Casino continues to post the highest adjusted gross revenue (AGR) in the state reporting a figure of $9.5 million for the month, a drop of 11.2% on the previous month.
Overall, the state’s licensed sports betting operators reported a combined AGR of $$27.7 million, a drop of 18% on September’s reported AGR of $33.8 million. This means that although sportsbooks enjoyed a record month, state taxes actually dropped from $3.2 million in September to $2.6 million in October.
