According to the latest monthly revenue report from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, the state’s seven online sports betting operators reported accepting over $205.7 million in wagers during the month of March.

The latest figures represent a drop of 2.5% from the amount wagered in the February when the state’s first full month of online sports betting saw Louisiana gamblers place over $211 million in bets.
March saw the seven online sportsbooks report a win percentage of 13.8%. This was a significant improvement on February’s win percentage of 7.9%. Revenue from online sports betting increased by 70% month-on-month to $28.4 million as a result of the higher win percentage and the fact that promotions for March only amounted to $802,245 while in February they totaled $10 million. Promotional credits and free bets are not subject to tax.
As a result state taxes directly from mobile sports betting amounted to $3.18 million up from the $2.2 million paid in the previous month.
Meanwhile retail sportsbooks reported a 168% increase in revenue with the month’s total coming to $1.7 million. This was despite wagers made at physical sportsbooks dropping by 1.5% to $27 million.

Sports betting in Louisiana was legalized in 2021 with retail sportsbooks launching in October. Mobile Sports betting launched in the state towards the end of January 2022.
