NBA star Malik Beasley was evicted from his Detroit apartment as the FBI continue to investigate the player regarding allegations of suspicious betting activity.

The Detroit News reported that Beasley was thrown out of his downtown residence on Wednesday, two months after he was sued for failing to pay rent at the historic high-rise building – The Stott.

The eviction order was filed in the 36th District Court and also comes after Beasley was sued again by sports agency Hazan Sports alleging a breach of contract, claiming the sharpshooter owes them $650,000.

Beasley, currently a free agent, was in talks with the Detroit Pistons on a three-year, $42 million contract to bring him back to the team but those discussions are now on pause.

What Is Malik Beasley Accused Of?

Federal authorities have reason to believe Beasley is involved in gambling related to NBA games and prop bets, centred around his 2023-24 season with the Milwaukee Bucks.

That year Beasley averaged 11.3 points in 79 games during the regular season, making a career-high 77 starts.

At least one major sports betting app in the United States detected unusually heavy betting interest on Beasley prop bets beginning around January 2024 according to ESPN.

When the Bucks played the Portland Trail Blazers on January 31, 2024, odds on Beasley recording fewer than 2.5 rebounds moved significantly with online casinos before the game.

The price shortened from around +120 to -250 due to the amount of action on the under and Beasley finished with six rebounds that night, deeming the bets losers.

Beasley Scandal Marks Yet Another Gambling Probe In US Sports

US sports are experiencing a whirlwind of gambling scandals this year. Recently, NBA legend Gilbert Arenas was charged with hosting illegal poker games.

In July, Major League Baseball began an investigation into unusual gambling activity surrounding Cleveland Browns pitcher Luis Ortiz.

Weeks later, Ortiz’s teammate Emmanuel Clase was named in another gambling probe.

Elsewhere in the NBA, it was revealed a professional bettor placed 30 wagers in 46 minutes on Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and ended up winning over $13,000.
