Nevada’s sportsbooks have reported a new record for wagers during the first ever Super Bowl to take place in Las Vegas.
According to reports, Nevada sportsbooks took in over $185.6 million in wagers as the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime. This was an increase of around 21% on last year’s total and beat the all-time record of $179.8 million set in 2022.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported that the state’s 182 sportsbooks generated revenues of $6.8 million, up from $4.3 million in 2023. This was well short of the all-time record of $18.7 million set back in 2020 when the Chiefs also beat the 49ers.
Meanwhile. in New Jersey, sportsbooks handled $141.6 million in bets on the Super Bowl. This was an increase of 30% over last year’s total. Sportsbooks reported a win of nearly $8.5 million, down from $12.8 million in revenues in 2023.
Pennsylvania sportsbooks took in $71.5 million on the game, down 15% from last year’s total.
In its first Super Bowl with legal sports betting, Maine reported about $3.5 million wagered through online sportsbooks.
Swift Bowl Takes Centre Stage
The available betting options for the Super Bowl saw a huge number of proposition wagers based on Taylor Swift who is in a relationship with Travis Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Betting markets included:

- Will Taylor Swift attend the Super Bowl wearing a [rather snazzy] outfit designed by Kyle Juszyck’s Wife?
- Will Travice Kelce propose to Taylor Swift on the CBS Broadcast?
- Will Donald Trump mention Taylor Swift on Truth Social on February 11th?
- Kids: Will Taylor Swift be pregnant before 1st Jan, 2025?
- Will Taylor Swift be Seen Crying if Chiefs Lose?
No details of how many Swift-related wagers were made have yet been released by any of the major sportsbooks.
