According to the latest monthly revenue report from the Oregon Lottery, DraftKings, the state’s only licensed sports betting operator, reported accepting $73.2 million in wagers throughout the month of December setting a new all-time record for a single month.
2023 Sports Betting Totals
- Sports betting handle – $675 million, up 35.5% (2022 – $497.9 million)
- Revenue – $75.6 million, up 52.7% (2022 – $49.5 million)
- Taxes – $38.5 million, up 86% (2022 – $20.7 million )
The latest figures mark an increase of 2.8% on the previous month’s total of $71.2 million and a 36% increase year-on-year. Sports bettors in Oregon wagered $675 million in 2023 at OR betting sites, a 35.5% increase on the total wagered in 2022.
Wagers have totaled $1.17 billion since DraftKings took over as the state’s sole sportsbook in January 2022. The all-time wagering total now stands at almost $1.76 billion.
The month of December saw DraftKings generate $9.7 million in revenue from a win percentage of 13.20%, a new all-time record in the state. This was also an increase of 34.7% compared to the previous month and 73.2% year-on-year. The total revenue figure for 2023 is $75.6 million, up by 52.7% compared to 2022. The all-time figure now stands at $178.5 million.
When DraftKings took over as the state’s only sports betting operator it agreed to a 51% state share on gross sports betting revenue. Although this figure is not included in the report it can be estimated that state taxes for the month came to around $4.9 million, another state record.
Football Remains First Choice at Sportsbooks
According to the report, Oregon gamblers wagered $23 million on football while basketball attracted $16.4 million in wagers. Soccer pulled in $3.2 million in wagers while ice hockey bets came to $2 million.
