According to the latest monthly revenue report from the Oregon Lottery, DraftKings, the state’s only licensed sports betting operator, reported accepting $36.2 million in wagers throughout the month of March.
Oregon gamblers placed over $23.2 million in wagers on basketball during March
The latest figures mark a drop of 8.2% from February, when in its first full month of operation DraftKings accepted $39.5 million in sports wagers. It was also a considerable drop from January’s $42.8 million wagered on sports. However, March’s figure was a 50.5% increase on the same period last year when the lottery-owned Scoreboard accepted $24.1 million in bets.
Despite a lower overall handle, sports betting revenue for the month of March reached $3.6 million, up 8.5% from the previous month when DraftKings reported $3.3 million in revenue. Revenue for the month increased by 163.4% from the $1.4 million reported in March 2021. According to the report, the lottery’s Scoreboard accepted $24,836 in wagers during the month generating revenues of just $5,295.
The Oregon Lottery’s Scoreboard app and website are currently in the process of being phased out. Once that process is complete, DraftKings will be the only sportsbook operator providing legal sports betting in Oregon.
The report also reveals the most popular sport at DraftKings as Oregon gamblers placed over $23.2 million in wagers on basketball during March. Meanwhile, hockey attracted $3.7 million in wagers, soccer $3.3 million, tennis $2.7 million, and baseball only $113,546.
