Churchill Downs has announced the launch of its TwinSpires online casino and sportsbook in New Jersey.
Following the launch, TwinSpires sports betting app is now available in eight states; Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and now New Jersey. Meanwhile, its online casino is available in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
Speaking of the launch, Churchill Downs senior vice president and chief technology officer Ben Murr said:
“As the official wagering partner of the Kentucky Derby, many sports fans in New Jersey will already be familiar with the TwinSpires brand and its long history with the greatest two minutes in sports.
“We are excited to leverage nearly 150 years of wagering history within the United States to offer New Jerseyans our state-of-the-art online sports betting and igaming products, promotions and offers.”
The launch in New Jersey comes amid persistent rumors that the company is considering the sale of TwinSpires Racing. A report appearing on Bloomberg cited an anonymous source close to the company as stating that Churchill Downs have enlisted the help of an adviser to gauge potential interest in the sale of TwinSpires.
The report also suggested that any sale of the company’s online platform could be worth somewhere in the region of $1.5 billion. When asked, Churchill Downs declined to comment on the rumors.
