Vermont sports betting has officially launched as DraftKings, Fanatics, and FanDuel began taking bets on January 11th = making becoming the 39th US state (& the District of Columbia) to offer legal sports-betting – either online, in-person – or both.

Sports betting in Vermont was officially signed into law by state Gov. Phil Scott following legislative approval in June of 2023.

The Department of Liquor and Lottery selected DraftKings, FanDuel and Fanatics Sportsbook to operate sports betting in the state. While both DraftKings and FanDuel were expected to launch yesterday, Fanatics had initially stated that it would open at a later date. However, all three sportsbooks are now live and online.

Lottery Commissioner Wendy Knight stated that the first 12 hours of sports betting saw around 7,000 people fully registered across all three sportsbooks. Total wagers for the period averaged around $15,000 per hour.

According to Knight, mobile betting is expected to generate approximately $7 million in revenue for the state in its first year of operation.
