The Vermont Department of Liquor and Lottery (DLL) has announced that mobile sports betting is set to launch on January 11th, 2024.
In a joint announcement with Governor Phil Scott, Department Commissioner Wendy Knight revealed that DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics Sportsbook have been chosen to operate mobile sports wagering platforms in Vermont.
Speaking of the impending launch, Governor Scot said:
“I first proposed Vermont legalize sports wagering several years ago, and it’s good to see it come to fruition. Vermonters and visitors alike will soon be able to access a regulated sports wagering marketplace, which will come with important consumer protections and generate revenue for the State.”
Commissioner Knight added:
“We are excited to offer sports enthusiasts the ability to engage in sports wagering in Vermont with three of the industry’s top companies.”
Earlier in June of this year, Governor Scott signed a bill that legalized online sports wagering in Vermont. With no commercial or tribal casinos located in Vermont, the bill allows private sports betting operators to agree contracts directly with the DLL. According to the legislation, the state is statutorily permitted to contract with fewer than six operators but is not obligated to reach that number.

Both DraftKings and FanDuel have now started the pre-registration process for new customers ahead of the January launch date.
In relation to Fanatics, Charles Martin, Director of Communications & Legislative Affairs DLL explained to Gambling Industry News:
“Fanatics Sportsbook will not launch in Vermont on January 11, 2024, but will be live shortly thereafter. Fanatics Betting and Gaming is in the process of expanding across multiple states and did not want to launch in Vermont until they could provide a premiere customer experience. The Department will be working with Fanatics Betting and Gaming in the coming weeks to schedule the launch of the Fanatics Sportsbook in Vermont.”
