The International Cricket Council (ICC) has charged West Indies cricketer Devon Thomas with seven breaches of cricket’s anti-corruption codes.

According to a statement released by the ICC, Thomas has been suspended with immediate effect after charges were brought against the player accusing him of:

“contriving or being party to an agreement to fix or attempt to fix, contrive or influence improperly the result, progress, conduct or other aspects of matches in the Lanka Premier League 2021.”

There charges relate to several instances of alleged corruption or attempted match-fixing brought to light by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Among the charges include an allegation that Thomas failed to notify the Lanka Premier League (2021), Abu Dhabi T10 (2021) and CPL (2021) of approaches made to him requesting that he attempt to ‘improperly influence’ the result of a cricket match.

Thomas has not played since December 2022 when he made his test debut for the West Indies in Adelaide in a game against Australia.

The player now has two weeks to respond to the charges brought against him.
