StarGames and the PDC

StarGames has become the official partner of the PDC European Darts Championship to be held in Dortmund in October.

The online gaming firm has been named as a co-sponsor of the annual event that forms part of the Professional Darts Corporation’s (PDC) calendar.

It continues StarGames’ campaign of brand awareness in Germany that includes being a premium partner of Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund in a multi-year deal.

Previously it had been front-of-shirt sponsor for second tier Hannover 96’s training and warm-up kits.

The StarGames brand is owned by Greentube and has been operating in Germany since 2021.

StarGames And The PDC

Becoming the official partner of the PDC European Darts Championship, the gaming and online casino specialist will have its brand displayed on the sleeve of every player’s throwing arm during the four-day event.

Its yellow star logo will also form a part of the backdrop on the main stage and will feature on the in-venue LED screens.

The tournament gets underway on October 23 at Dortmund’s Westfalenhalle and will feature 32 players, including reigning World Champion Luke Littler and World No 1 Luke Humphries, while the home support should be firmly behind Martin Schindler, Germany’s top-ranked player.

There will also be an autograph-signing opportunity with StarGames brand ambassador Max Hopp, who became the first German professional darts player to win a PDC event with success at the 2018 German Darts Open.

PDC A Safe Bet For Gambling Companies

The PDC has a strong relationship with sports betting apps and gaming sites, with premium exposure guaranteed in the UK and Ireland through the sport’s TV coverage deal with Sky, which runs until at least 2030.

Sky Sports reported record audience figures of 4.8 million viewers when Luke Humphries beat Luke Littler in the 2023-24 PDC World Championship final.

Paddy Power has been the title sponsor of the PDC World Championship since 2024 and previous brands to have held title rights include Ladbrokes (2003 to 2014) and William Hill (2015 to 2022)

Last month, Betfred extended its sponsorship of World Matchplay Darts until at least 2030, retaining naming rights to both the World Matchplay and Women’s World Matchplay tournaments.

Popular UK sports betting site Ladbrokes snapped up naming rights for both the 2024 UK Open and Players Championship Finals and retained those rights for this calendar year.

Reaction From Both Camps

László Pados, brand manager of StarGames, said: “Darts in Dortmund fuelled by StarGames is a match made in heaven.

“As a partner of BVB and Max Hopp, it was clear that if the European Darts Championship is coming to this city, we want to be there.

“We’re looking forward to an exciting weekend full of darts action with the best players on the European Tour in the Westfalenhalle.

“Maybe the StarGames logo on the sleeve will bring players some extra luck.”

Adam Perfect, PDC head of commercial, said: “It’s great to have StarGames onboard as an Official Partner of the 2025 European Championship.

“We are incredibly excited for this year’s event which promises to be one of the best yet to round off a dramatic year of events across the European Tour and we can’t wait to work with StarGames to help promote their brand and enhance the experiences for the fans attending in Dortmund.”
