The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection has released its latest monthly revenue report revealing that the state’s licensed sportsbooks and online casinos saw revenues drop for the month of February.
According to the report, online casino revenues dropped for the first time since the industry launched as online casino operators reported accepting $743.8 million in wagers during the month. This was a drop of 4.64% on the previous month’s total of $780 million. Payments to players amounted to $722.2 million while GGR for the month was $17.1 million, down from the $18.8 million reported in January. This resulted in payments to the state of just over $3 million.
The state’s three online sports betting operators reported accepting $108.7 million during the month. This was a drop of 27.2% on the previous month’s total of $145.3 million. Payments to gamblers through mobile sports betting apps for the month amounted to $103.3 million resulting in combined gross gaming revenue (GGR) of $2.6 million. This saw the state collect $454,618 in online sports wagering taxes.
Meanwhile the state’s one retail sports betting operator, CT Lottery Corp, reported accepting $6.8 million in wagers down from the $8.7 million wagered in the previous month. GGR for the month amounted to $341,076 resulting in payments to the state of $46,898 less than half the amount collected in January. Overall mobile and retail sports betting in Connecticut combined to generate just $2.9 million in revenue during the month of February.
In total, the state collected just over $3.5 million in taxes from online casino gaming, retail sports betting, and mobile sports betting combined.
