There were many happy Hard Rock Bet customers this week, as the casino platform honored $5,000 cash payouts – despite these ‘Live Trivia’ winnings coming due to a technical fault.
New Jersey Hard Rock Bet Players Rewarded With $5,000 Payouts Due To ‘Live Trivia’ Malfunction
If a technical glitch at a US online casino results in some customers being paid out winnings they shouldn’t have had – then most would expect them to reverse these payouts.
Not Hard Rock Bet.
Lucky players of their Live Trivia event, in a ‘free-to-play’ session, resulted in qualifying customers winning $5,000 in error.
The hard Rock Bet game is exclusive to New Jersey players, but on Wednesday (25th June 2025) many users hit the jackpot with big cash rewards popping up in accounts – all thanks to a flaw in their software.
However, instead of trying to reverse their mistake, Hard Rock Bet have taken the decision to honour the payouts – meaning many New Jersey-based online casino players in the US were opening the champagne.
With the company saying – they wanted to put their customers first.
Matt Primeaux, Hard Rock Bet’s Executive Managing Director and President said his company had acted “responded quickly and deliberately” as soon as the error was noticed.
He went onto say “The awards stand. While others may have tried to claw back the $5,000 awards – Hard Rock Bet wants to put our customers first wherever possible, not just when it’s convenient.”
What Is Live Trivia at Hard Rock Bet?
This offering is a new digital product in the Hard Rock Bet family of products that combines a live host dealer with quiz-based game-play.
The sessions consist of ten questions with a time limit attached to them. Then the players that manage to answer at seven (or more) question correctly will earn themselves a slice of the prize fund.
These Live Trivia sessions are arranged weekly and have different rotating themes attached to them – which might include Independence Day or Pop Culture.
This offering has been launched to New Jersey online casino players and has been set up to work alongside other exclusive games at the platform like Hard Rock Cash Lock – being co-developed with AGS as part of a bigger strategy in the Garden State.
The $5,000 error payouts by Hard Rock Bet strayed away from the normal prize payout structure – where winners normally take a chunk of the fixed prize pool.
As a result of the incorrect winnings, this has led to wider industry discussions on managing risk and casino bonuses and promotion errors.
Hard Rock Bet also operated in other US regulated states – but New Jersey is their main area and regarded as their core market region.
In total the site has over 3,000 online casino titles in 2025 and was one of the pioneers in implementing Games Global’s Free Spins tool in America.
