The latest monthly revenue report from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has revealed that combined gambling revenues for the month of December came to $522.2 million.
The latest figures represent an increase of 8.25% on the previous month’s total of $482.4 million and a 14.8% increase on the total reported in December 2022.
2023 Yearly Totals
Total Gaming Revenue reported by casinos, racetracks, and their partners for the calendar year was $5.78 billion marking a 10.9% increase from the $5.21 billion reported in 2022.
- Casino – $2.85 billion up 2.2% (2022- $2.79 billion)
- Internet Gaming – $1.92 billion up 15.7% (2022- $1.66 billion)
- Sports Betting – $1.01 billion up 31.9% (2022 – $763.0 million)
Casino Win
Land-based casinos in New Jersey reported revenues of $232.4 million, up by 7.8% year-on-year and 8.14% compared to the month of November’s total of $214.9 million.
For the month of December, eight of the state’s nine casinos reported increases in casino win year-on-year.
- Ocean Casino – $33.1 million – up 12.4%
- Hard Rock – $44.8 million – up 19.9%
- Bally’s – $11.5 million – up 5.1%
- Caesars – $18.8 million – up 13.2%
- Harrah’s – $20.8 million – up 3.1%
- Tropicana – $20.9 million – up 14.8%
- Resorts – $12.4 million – up 11%
- Golden Nugget – $11 million – up 1.3%
The only NJ casino that reported a decrease in revenues was:
- Borgata – $58.7 million – down 2.9%
This brings the year-to-date casino win total to $2.85 billion.
Internet Gaming
The month of December saw New Jersey’s iGaming operators report $180.3 million in combined revenues. This was an increase of 5% on the previous month’s total and a 24.8% increase on the $87.7 million reported in December 2022. This brings the year to date total to $1.92 billion.
Sports Betting
New Jersey sports betting operators reported accepting $1.28 billion in wagers throughout the month of December.
Of that figure, $1.23 billion of the month’s sports wagers were placed through online sportsbooks with the retail sector taking in $50.4 million. This brings the total amount wagered in 2023 to $11.9 billion, a $1 billion increase on 2022.
Sports betting revenue came to $109.4 million marking a 24.8% increase year-on-year. This brings the 2023 revenue total to just over $1 billion, a 31.2% increase on 2022’s total.
