Rush Street Interactive (RSI), the company behind BetRivers, has partnered with Integrity Compliance 360 (IC360) to launch a responsible gambling program for high-school students.
The new initiative has been named the Gaming Literacy Aiding Decisions (GLAD). The program aims to help teenagers understand gambling and how to participate responsibly in the growing industry.
Despite US federal betting laws making the legal gambling age 21, RSI CEO Richard Schwartz admitted that he was aware of an increase in underage gambling. Schwartz commented, “As technology continues to evolve, entertainment options, such as online gambling, have become increasingly mainstream and accessible.”
The GLAD program will initially launch in Delaware, where BetRivers has an exclusive deal to be the sole legal gambling operator, and New Jersey.
Empowering young people
Schwartz went on to outline how the program aims to empower young people to determine their future relationship with gambling. He stated, “At RSI, we believe our role as a leading online gambling operator goes beyond simply committing financial resources.
“We have a responsibility to seek out and create opportunities that empower young people with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions—so that when the time comes, they can determine for themselves, with confidence and understanding, what relationship, if any, they wish to have with gambling products.
“This is why, in partnership with IC360, we developed GLAD—a curriculum designed to become a foundation in responsible gaming education for North American teens by helping inform their understanding of gambling and the importance of doing so responsibly.”
Delaware has been clamping down on unlicensed gambling operators who often have fewer ID checks, allowing underage players. The state issued a cease-and-desist order to Virtual Gaming Worlds (VGW), and the sweepstakes casino withdrew operations last month.
Integrity Compliance continue mission for responsible gambling
IC360 already has partnerships with major sportsbooks DraftKings and FanDuel, in addition to the NFL, NBA, and MLB. The company’s website declares its “mission is to set new standards by providing unparalleled services that ensure integrity, transparency, and compliance at the intersection of the rapidly evolving global sports betting market and sports integrity.”
On the new initiative, co-CEO and president Eric Frank commented, “We are proud to partner with Rush Street Interactive, a company that has not only identified the need for gambling literacy among young people, but has also taken meaningful, proactive steps to lead the way in addressing the critical educational gap.”
Frank added, “Their demonstrable commitment to supporting educators and empowering students sets a new standard for creating informed and responsible attitudes towards gambling.”
