Online gambling and gaming in Italy
Clubs in Italy’s top division lost hundreds of millions of Euros in potential revenue when a marketing ban came into effect in January 2019, prohibiting clubs from displaying the names of betting companies and sports betting sites on the front of their shirts or advertising boards within their stadiums.
That resulted in some clubs circumventing the ban by linking up with the media and content divisions of companies that didn’t offer gambling services in Italy.
Napoli employed this strategy with StarCasino Sport, Internazionale teamed up with the Betsson Sport Group but officially Betsson Sport, the media branch, and Fiorentina aligned with Wwin Sport.
About SSC Napoli, Italy’s reigning football champions
Last season’s championship win under manager Antonio Conte was the club’s second in the past three campaigns.
Their title-winning squad included former Manchester United and Scotland star Scott McTominay, alongside fellow international Billy Gilmour and the club’s top scorer in 2024-25, Romelu Lukaku, once of Chelsea and Manchester United.
Without doubt Napoli’s most famous player was Diego Maradona, the legendary Argentinian ball wizard, who led the club to its first ever Italian championship in 1986-87.
“We are genuinely excited about this partnership, it’s such a huge deal for us. Why? Because we’re fans too!” aid a Rabona official.
“Just look at the name of our brand. ‘Rabona’ refers to a unique football move, famously loved by the legendary Neapolitan captain.”
Last season’s triumph was the fourth Serie A title in Napoli’s history.
Earlier this month the club announced a partnership with bet365 Scores.
The real-time results and statistics app has become the Official Infotainment Partner of the club.
