The UK Gambling Commission has revealed that it has suspended the license of online casino operator BGO Entertainment Limited following breaches of the Gambling Act 2005.
The Commission has stated that there are concerns that the operator who runs bgo.com, m.bgo.com, powerspins.com, vegasluck.com and chilli.com, may have engaged in activities that are prohibited by the Act. Although the alleged activities have not been listed by the Commission, the announcement notes that a failure to protect customers was one of the major concerns.
As such, these breaches run contrary to BGO’s license conditions and therefore the Commission felt that the operator was unfit to continue offering gambling products and services.
In the announcement, the Commission stated:
We have made it clear to the operator that during the course of the suspension, we expect it to focus on treating consumers fairly and keeping them fully informed of any developments which impact them.
The suspension, which takes immediate effect, does not prevent customers of BGO’s gambling brands and websites from accessing their accounts and withdrawing their funds.
BGO relayed the news of their suspension to customers via email and through a statement placed on their websites which read:
Following a notification from the Gambling Commission of Great Britain that BGO Entertainment limited operating licence has been suspended, it is with regret that we have to inform you that UK players are not currently permitted to access any of our services. The notification can be found here.
We’re working with the Gambling Commission to resolve this situation quickly, but in the meantime you are able to withdraw any funds currently in your account. Deposits will not be permitted. Please get in touch here with any questions.
There has been no indication as to how long the suspension may last.
